At conFIDE (center on non-violence: Foundation of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity) we work on Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (DEI) in workplaces and institutions of education with a special focus on gender balance and equality. Especially in challenging places like GB, our goal is to expand our DEI focus and work to make this region a safer and better place for women and girls (for the coming generations).
We are on a mission to educate, empower and inspire the youth and women to take charge of their lives. Through DEI focus and activities, we are motivated and committed to achieving the goal of empowering women/girls to improve their lives, so they can improve our future.
The following are some of our achievement:
- Sponsored the first-ever ‘girls’ school’ through community engagement in this beautiful valley of Damote Sai, in GB. Under this initiative, we have extended the school from 6th to 10th grade. Approximately 90 girls are enrolled in these four grades to continue their education and we have hired three local lady teachers to create employment in the area and hired one assistant to provide help to school management and these girls.
- Provided help and financial assistance to needy and Orphan students at Boys High School, Damote, Sai while involving the community and Education Department Gilgit Baltistan, distributed stitched two pairs of uniforms, and complete academic year stationary to 28 needy students whose families could not afford for their kids.
- Adopted a Madrassa for improvement at Darote, Damote Sai, and hired two teachers to teach kids formal education in both girls’ and boys’ sections.
- Under the ‘women empowerment project’ selected, interviewed, documented, and showcased 7 stories of empowered women from GB for the project ‘Together We Triumph’, which isa celebration of women of Gilgit Baltistan (GB). Our project is focused on how we plan to build up and strengthen our sisterhood. Here is how we are going to achieve our purpose:
- Released Women Empowerment Anthem: A poem on women’s success to honor women’s struggle in GBian society was recoded and sung by an emerging young artist from GB. Written by local poets and sung by local artists is something unique and one of the main attractions to encourage and further empower other women of GB.
- Networking and Mentorship: This will provide an opportunity for women of the region to get connected with other influential women from the region under one roof for support guidance and mentorship on career, education, and social wellbeing. A catalog will be organized, to register women for future networking and connections, where strategies will be developed for job opportunities, career counseling, resume building, social therapy, etc., and later it will be available to the public.
- Showcase Success Stories: We have selected and interviewed seven empowered and successful women’s case studies/stories from GB to share and highlight the contributing factors to their success in a challenging environment.
- Display of art and culture to support activism: Stalls/floats arranged for other men and women to shine their artistic skills in the fields of art and culture. This will be to provide a platform for displaying the talent of young women and girls from the region under the support and supervision of already empowered women of GB.
